Seamus Maguire, Dublin. Seamus and Pauline Maguire, live close to the highest pub in Ireland but are now also the owners of one of the highest micro turbines in Ireland. The CF6e was installed for their house, business and sheds. Ultimately Seamus and his wife Pauline wanted to just be greener and do something good for the environment. The house situated high up in the Dublin mountains gets good wind through out the year. Seamus is considering using the Cool Power energy and micro-generation managment (EMMA) unit to heat his water and also power two storage rad's in a new extention to their home. This will be an ideal way to harvest the excess power generated by the turbine to heat their new extention renewably as well as reduce their electricity bills.
Ted Horan Glenflesk, Kerry Ted Horan is a return customer to NGS. Ted was supplied with the first NGS over ground slurry tank which is also fitted with our airation system some years ago. Ted has now taken another step forward and invested in the C&F 6e wind turbine. This installation is significant as the turbine is sited nearly half a kilometer away from is Dairy Parlour. The cable is sized appropriately so there is no drop in power over the distance. This shows that the turbine can be put long distances away if a superior site presents itself. Ted has an annual usage of electricity of over 20000 units and the CF6e has a rating of 20000 units at an average annual windspeed of 5.5m/s. At this particular site the C&F 6e will most likely exceed its predicted output due to the height of the terrain as can be seen in the photo's.
Cecil Davis, Borrisokane, Tipperary Cecil Davis outside Borrisokane got his new CF6e wind turbine to run his house and sheds on his farm . Cecil previously had another turbine installed by another company some years ago. The previous turbine failed to operate correctly and eventually blew apart. Cecil still wanted a turbine that could eliminate his electricity bills and was not phased by the failure of his first attempt at a renewable electricity project. Once Cecil saw what NGS Energy were offering with the new C&F wind turbine he knew it was a sound investment. The turbine is now up, functioning and producing plenty of power. Cecil's first comment on the new turbine was that he couldn't hear it, its so quiet. Cecil now has the option of using the EMMA cool power unit in the future to use excess power for hotwater heating and running storage heaters. This will be a simple addition at his fuseboard with out intruding on his existing wiring. NGS Energy are agents and installers of the Irish designed and made EMMA cool power renewable energy power manager. Cecil also has the option of upgrading the machine to an CF11i using the C & F innovative design where just a new 5Kw section is added specifically for heating.
Peter Deegan, West Meath On the 9th of April Peter and Paul Deegan got their C&F turbine erected. The aim of the machine is to eliminate the high cost of running the Milking Parlour on the Dairy farm and reduce the carbon footprint for the two brothers. The turbine consists of 2 completely seperate generators one is 6kw and the other is 5Kw both housed with in the same turbine and on the same direct drive train. The turbine is used in 2 seperate applications on this site. In general terms the machine will be used for grid connection and also for heating. This makes the turbine an 11Kw total output. but is a perfect example of sectioned generator technology unique to C&F's innovative approach. Even though the install ran on until late in the evening with little to no wind, the turbine still made useful power reaching half a Kilowatt in winds of less than 4mph once it was commissioned. The NGS energy wiring crew (Kieran & John Egan) and rep Dermot Hynes were there as always to wire the system which they had sold, and make sure that the customer was fully satisfied with all aspects of the new machine.
Michael Bohannon, Clare Michael Bohannon in Co. Clare near the Moneypoint power station has installed the C&F 6e turbine. The turbine is situated in an agricultural setting as Michael is a Dairy farmer. The site is particularly windy and has the potential to produce a very high energy yield. Thanks to the technology and innovation culminated in the C&F design the turbine can withstand high winds by using its blade pitching technology allowing it to produce full power right throughout a storm. Michael understands that it is possible to upgrade this machine to an 11i in the future. The C&F 11i turbine can be used to heat water in the dairy with a completely seperate 5Kw section in the same turbine. Michael is already reducing his electrical carbon footprint with the existing C&F 6Kw Grid Tie System on a single phase connection. The beauty of this particular machine is that you get an 11Kw turbine that still complies with the 25 amp feed in restriction and still save significant power usage on water heating.
John Gash, Cork The Farm of John Gash, Kinsale, Co Cork is home to the new C&F 6e Wind turbine.
This machine stands on a 15m high monopole with a rotor diameter of 8m. The C&F turbine was installed as a Grid Connect System to help reduce the carbon footprint of the farm and to reduce or possibly eliminate electricity bills. This is a typical installation of an agricultural 6Kw turbine. The larger blade diameter complies with the agricultural regulations but also affords the harvesting of significantly more power than a 6m rotor diameter model on the same generator due to the swept area size. Due to the innovative thinking by C&F the machine uses blade pitching to accommodate what ever blade size is put on the machine making it completely controlable and safe.
Wind Turbine Seminar Cork NGS Energy conducted a wind turbine Seminar in the Quality Hotel Clonakilty, Co. Cork in association with Seamus O'Mahoney of Barryroe Co-op, John Flaherty CEO of the C&F Group and Ernest & Young entrepreneur of the year winner 2008. The seminar was well received by the 100 plus audience where topics such as wind speeds, energy harvest, and turbine technologies were discussed. The main theme of the seminar was how blade diameter is the major governing factor in the annual output of a turbine under the Irish planning constraints. The C&F turbine was on display within the hotel for all to view. The C&F innovative design of the turbine was outlined. The design was described highlighting how the planning and ESB regulations are used to their full potential to harvest greater power from the wind using larger blades and sectioned generator technology. A number of the audience attended the installation of the turbine the next day and saw it up and running at John Gash's farm. Left to Right are Kieran Egan (NGS Energy) Joe Egan (NGS Energy) John Flaherty (CEO of the C&F Group) Seamus O'Mahony (Barryroe Co-op)
Mark Hanley, Roscommon Mark Hanley's farm is home to the first customer owned C&F 6e wind turbine outside of the factory. The machine is situated on high landscape outside of Elphin town. The machine is part of an agricultural system that is grid connected to help reduce or eliminate electricity bills. The C&F machine has an oversized cable running from the turbine to the Grid Tie System to accommodate an upgrade to the turbine in the future should the network and feed in tarrifs accomodate it. The C&F machine can be upgraded to an 11kw generator using all parts that are currently installed. The novel design of the turbine and in particular the generator means that we can upgrade the generator by adding on another section to the generator without changing the blades, carcus or pole. Should there be excessive surplus power Mark intends to use it for heating using an energy management system which can be supplied by NGS Energy. Like the C&F turbine the management system is 100% Irish made by Cool Power and supporting Irish jobs.
Duncan Stewart with NGS Energy at Letterkenny Expo NGS Energy attended the Letterkenny Dream Homes Exhibition as part of the NGS Energy Turbine Tour of Ireland. The amount of people that had in depth knowledge about wind turbine technology was astounding. One resounding comment that was re-iterated by the people in the know was the quality of a turbine was directly related to its weight. At a trim 850Kg's our 6Kw machine on display impressed the people in the know. It also impressed Duncan Stewart who is passionate about a greener environment. NGS Energy explained how the 100% Irish made and designed turbine from Athenry Co. Galway has innovation at its heart allowing it to produce significant power. We also explained how it was capable of how the machine on display could be upgraded to a larger machine just by adding on to the generator. Duncan Stewart was very interested in the product and later on gave a seminar on renewable energy where he commented that there are euro's upon euro's blowing in the sky above us and we are not harnessing it. A good example of Duncan's analagy can be see in our TV advert.
